A genus of the family Berberidaceae, comprising herbaceous plants with thick, creeping rhizomes, large, peltate, palmately lobed leaves, and white flowers; (also podophyllum) a plant of this genus, especially the mayapple, Podophyllum peltatum, of eastern North America, or P. hexandrum of the Himalayas.
