What is Conexo?
Conexo is a word based puzzle that invites players to uncover hidden relationships among sets of words. Each puzzle consists of 16 distinct words, and the challenge is to group them into clusters of four words that share a unifying attribute, theme, or concept. Developed by Daydash, who also produced Contexto and Letroso. Conexo distinguishes itself with its distinctive color coded categories: Rust Red, Green, Blue Chill and Purple.
Though it shares similarities with popular games like Connections and Only Connect, Conexo operates independently and delivers a fresh twist on the word-grouping format. Daily Conexo puzzles become available at midnight, with archives going back to February 1, 2024. Players can also explore Spanish and Portuguese editions, adding a multilingual dimension to the fun.
Playing Conexo: How It Works
Conexo closely resembles other word-connection games in that it presents a grid of 16 words for you to organize into four complementary groups. Here's a simplified rundown on how to play:
Steps for Solving the Puzzle
Survey the Grid
When you open the daily puzzle, inspect the 16 words. Aim to determine which ones might align under a shared category, theme, or attribute.
Select Potential Groups
Click on one word to highlight it, then choose three more you believe belong to the same set. You can deselect a word by clicking on it again if you change your mind.
Confirm or Retry
Once four words are chosen, the game checks if they form a valid group. If correct, the group locks in with its color and is labeled according to the connection. If incorrect, you receive a prompt to re-evaluate your picks.
Complete All Sets
Keep grouping words until you've successfully categorized all 16. You'll see each group's label after guessing correctly—just like identifying "Salad Items" if you select "Tomato," "Lettuce," "Cucumber," and "Dressing."
Daily Puzzle and Archives
A brand-new challenge arrives every midnight. Previous puzzles—stretching back to February 1, 2024—are also accessible, so you can sharpen your skills any time.
Handy Tips to Level Up Your Game
1. Spot Recurrent Themes: Watch for overarching ideas or recurring concepts that might link the daily set of words. Past experience with common categories (animals, countries, emotions, etc.) can help you quickly recognize new ones.
2. Use Context Clues: Consider how words function in different contexts. Their usage or meaning in everyday language might point you toward the correct grouping.
3. Take Advantage of Hints: Conexo offers an optional hint feature. If you're stuck, these hints can reveal a few words closely related to a target concept, giving you a major head start on pinpointing the right cluster.
4. Practice for Efficiency: As with most puzzles, repeated play hones your ability to see patterns. The more familiar you become with typical categories, the quicker you'll spot connections in future rounds.
How Conexo Stands Apart from Connections
Color SchemesFour unique colors—Rust Red, Blue Chill, Green, and Purple—distinguish each group.
Variable DifficultyThere's no strict rule that certain colors always indicate harder difficulty, though Purple often feels more challenging.
Unlimited GuessesYou're not restricted to a set number of guesses; Conexo tracks how many attempts you make rather than capping them.
Unlimited HintsYou can see 2-3 relevant words in a group when you need help, and your stats will show each hint used.
No Submit ButtonSelecting four words immediately counts as a guess—no extra step required.
Similarities to Connections
Same Core IdeaYou'll arrange 16 words into four logical sets, just as you would in games like Connections.
Shareable ResultsBoth Conexo and Connections include an option to share your progress or success with friends, adding a social element to the experience.
