The three-letter words are good for getting rid of the J in the end game when you don't have an O to make JO.
The V is a contradiction. It's enticing because of its four-point worth, but it's difficult to use effectively. It pays to know some good words ending with V. How about words ending in Q? Well, there are only three, which is unsurprising because the Q is one of the least flexible tiles in crossword games. Those three words are: suq, tranq, and umiaq. Not only is it difficult to play, it's very tough to use in a bingo.
